This notice explains how personal data is handled in the Askare iPhone app and on this website. Askare is a shared chore list for a household, with points, a scoreboard, and rewards.
Who is responsible
The controller is NorthTribe Oy, business ID 2681261-3. Askare is published by NorthTribe Oy.
Privacy requests can be sent to info@northtribe.fi.
This website
The marketing site is hosted by Vercel. It does not ask you to create an account, and it does not use a cookie for advertising.
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics. That records a page view and general technical details: the page address, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and country. Vercel uses this so we can see how the site is used. It does not build an advertising profile.
The Askare app
To run the household, the app stores:
- Account. You can sign in with Apple, or with an email address and password. Sign in with Apple may share your name and email, or a private relay address if you hide your email. Email accounts are handled by our authentication provider, which stores the address and a protected password credential. The session is kept in the iPhone keychain.
- Profile and household. A display name, the household name, whether the household is a couple or a family, and your role (parent or child). Invite codes are created so other people can join.
- Chores, points, and rewards. Titles and point values you add, who finished a chore and when, the points balance, the scoreboard, reward names and costs, who may redeem a reward, and redemption history. Other members of the same household can see this.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app stores a device token for your account so it can tell you about household activity.
- Subscription. Askare Pro is an Apple in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your card number. RevenueCat receives a user id and the subscription status, so the app knows whether the household subscription is active.
A household can include children. A child who joins has their own display name and role, and the same chore and points history as other members. The app does not ask for a date of birth. A parent should send an invite only if they are comfortable with that child having an account and with the household seeing their activity.
Why we use the data
We use account and household data to provide Askare: the shared list, the score, rewards, invites, and the subscription. That is necessary for the service you sign up for.
Notifications are sent when you allow them. Website analytics are used to understand which pages are read. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who else processes it
- Supabase hosts the database and authentication.
- Vercel hosts this website and provides its analytics.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple and App Store payments.
- RevenueCat tracks whether an Askare Pro subscription is active.
These providers process data for us, or, in Apple’s case, also for their own payment and sign-in services. They may process it outside Finland. Household members also see the names, points, and activity of the people in that household.
How long we keep it
Account and household data is kept while the account exists. Invite codes expire after a short time. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete the profile and the data tied to it, except where we have to keep a record for a legal reason. Apple keeps purchase records under its own rules.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how it is used, or to receive it in a portable form. You can also object to use that is based on a legitimate interest.
Changes
If this notice changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
